    111107 - Tennis-Youth

    Ages 4-7: Forehand, backhand and volley will all be introduced which will aid in developing gross motor skills. Plenty of fun and games will also be incorporated. A mixture orange and regular balls will be used. Please bring a racquet, a smile, and water bottle to class.

    Tennis Program Director, Bill McGarry & his staff are back for another year to bring you fun on the courts! Bill is a certified tennis professional through the USPTA, P1 rating and has over 25 years of teaching experience. He played college tennis at the University of Michigan and has 5 years of tour experience. He also teaches at Wimbledon Racquet Club during the winter months. All make-ups must be pre-scheduled with Bill. Please call him at 586-855-8990 regarding any tennis programming questions.

    111112 - Summer Baseball

    Batter Up! Children play in a non-competitive atmosphere that promotes learning the FUNdamentals of the game. Request the same team as your buddy at the time of registration. Buddies must request each other, and although the staff does its best to accommodate requests, there are no guarantees for team placement.

    Volunteer coaches and assistants are mandatory for the success of the program. Please indicate when registering if you are interested in coaching. Volunteer meeting held prior to program with guidelines and assistance given by Parks and Recreation Staff.

    This program is for children or adults who want to learn the basics of rollerskating and rollerblading in a fun and safe environment. During this session you will learn forward skating, backward skating, starting, stopping, and how to balance. You can bring in your own skates/blades or skate/blade rental is included.

    TGA Premier Golf brings the golf course to the gym at the Shelby Township Activities Center! Children learn swing fundamentals, putting, chipping, rules, etiquette, and life values in a safe, nurturing environment. All equipment is provided and TGA guarantees a student-coach ratio of 8-1 or better.

    Students learn basic drawing skills through use of line, shape, form, value, perspective, and composition. Themed lessons provide introduction to graphite, color pencil, ink, pastels and additional media. Students are encouraged to utilize self-expression, as they work through the creative process.     211909 - Youth Baseball & Softball

    Youth baseball registration for Shelby Township and Utica residents runs Jan. 14-March 20 with online, walk-in and phone-in options available. Nonresidents can register Feb. 3 - March 20. Nonresidents add $10 per player. When registering online, you need your Household ID number and password. Email shelbyprm@shelbytwp.org or call 586-731-0300 to acquire that information. Register at webtrac.shelbytwp.org. Pee Wee Tee begins May 2 and runs for seven weeks. All other leagues begin in late April or early May, depending on field conditions. Leagues are completed by July 4. Pee Wee Tee refunds are available through May 8. Refunds in all other divisions are available through April 18. PRM deducts a $10 fee from all refunds.

    As a guide, most players play one to two seasons in each division before moving up to the next division. Games and practices may also be on Fridays and Saturdays for all divisions if needed. Game times are 6:30 p.m. on weekdays and vary on Saturdays if required. Minor league players that are 11-years-old should be players that are not ready for the 50/70 Division. All divisions will have approximately four practices and 12 games. Managers are allowed to request up to two other coaches, and one buddy request is allowed per player. Forming teams will NOT be permitted. equests are not guaranteed, and your other coach or buddy must also request you. The registration fee includes a team shirt, hat and an end-of-season award. Players supply their glove. No games take place Memorial Day weekend. Practices and games take place at parks located throughout Shelby Township. Volunteer coaches, officials and staff play a vital role in our sports leagues.
    Please consider taking some time to make your child’s sports experience a positive one by volunteering as a coach or assistant coach. To assist you, we’ll provide general rules and guidelines at a volunteer meeting held before the season. No coaching experience is necessary.

    311501 - A-1 Music Lessons

    Beginner students ages 8 to adult can receive instruction in piano, portable keyboard and guitar. Courses conducted by dick renock, who has over 40 years experience. You do not need a musical instrument to participate. Rentals are available from instructor by request at first lesson. A Proven music program with award winning students taught the correct way. College-level group instruction simplified with emphasis on timing. Through these progressive courses students will learn theory, melody, notes, exercises, chords and improvising. Learn classical music as well as popular and standard songs. Please bring your musical instrument to the second class.
